KOMMENTAR: In der Vergangenheit hatten wir bereits so einige Interviews mit Pornodarstellern aus der Gayszene, die meisten mehr oder weniger unfreundlich. Doch dann kam Carter Dane und bewies nicht nur dass nicht alle Diva Allüren in der Branche haben, sondern lieferte auch für uns das Beste Interview aller Zeiten. Carter Dane ist ein wirklich liebenswerter, witziger, mehr als sympathischer Mensch, einfach ein Typ zum verlieben. Vor seiner grenzenlosen Offenheit aber auch für sein Feingefühl müssen wir uns verbeugen. Ein Danke an Carter Dane, der uns gezeigt hat wie Normal aber auch wie großartig Menschen und das Leben sein können, egal aus welcher Gesellschaft aber auch aus welcher Branche Sie stammen. INTERVIEW!

OBZ: Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Sie haben sich einen Namen in der Gayszene gemacht und haben es auch verdient. Wie kommen Sie mit dem Erfolg klar? (Congratulations! They have made a name in the gay scene and have also earned it. Meanwhile turn international. How do you cope with the success?)
DANE: I mean success is subjective. I’m enjoying myself and am very grateful for people’s general support in regards to my journey in PornLand.

OBZ: Wie läuft so ein normaler Tag ab? Ein Drehtag? (What is your normal day like? A shooting Day?)
DANE: Well it depends on the day, but I guess on a day off when I’m finally home I usually go to the gym, run errands if I need to, try to see my family if possible or just spend some alone time with Alex.

On a shoot day, I usually wake up, go to the gym to do a light workout to get some blood flowing and then get myself booty-ready for the shoot. Then we shoot for up to 6-8hrs and then I just eat everything in sight! I usually stop eating about 18 to 20 hours before a shoot, so eating after is the ultimately The best reward Ever!

OBZ: Bringen Sie sich selbst in Produktionen ein? (Do you introduce yourself to productions?)

DANE: Well, usually with the performers and director we all decide what position we would like to do and/or try out and then we attempt to put them into practice to make sure that it will work for the camera (because no, not everything works on camera). That being said, whenever I have filmed with someone with whom I was connecting, we end up adding our own „positions“ and natural transitions to the mix, so there is a little less directions required for those scenes. I really think those have been some of my favorite scenes to shoot, because they feel more organic and as a result more pleasurable for all parties involved.

OBZ: Beeinträchtigt Ihre Arbeit Ihren normalen Alltag? Was halten Ihre Freunde von Ihrem Beruf? Ihr Ehemann ist in der gleichen Branche. Funktioniert die Kommunikation da besser? (Does your work affect your normal day life? What do your friends think of you? Your friend is in the same industry. Does the communication work better?)
DANE: My friends and family do know about my porn career and are all very curious when it comes to it. They all ask a lot of questions. Of course, initially my parents asked if I was sure of what I was doing, but once I reassured them that the studios for whom I have worked always treated me nicely and that it was a safe environment, they became very supportive and trust that I have a good enough head on my shoulders.

OBZ: Wie sind sie zu diesem Beruf gekommen? (How did you get this job?)

DANE: As a teenager I had fantasized of joining the adult entertainment industry, but it is only in my twenties that I finally found the courage to apply once and for all to porn studios. I have always had a strong exhibitionist nature and wanted to find a way to express and explore it further.

OBZ: Sie erhalten viel Fanpost. Lesen und beantworten Sie sie alles? Sind Sie private eine ganz andere Person oder ist Ihr Beruf / Ihr Image ein Teil vom Ganzen? (You must get a lot of fan mail. Do you read and answer them? Is it important for you to keep your porn image, or are you a totally different person off set?)
DANE: I do get my fare share of emails and messages on the various social media platforms. I do try to read most of them, but unfortunately sometimes life gets in the way and it becomes a little difficult to keep up with every tweets, comments, DMs, emails, etc. But I do try to answer some of them. Mostly if they make me laugh. Then I will most likely answer as they catch my attention a little more and I appreciate the effort. But yeah… Unfortunately I cannot respond to everything as it often turns into a vicious circle. For instance, the moment I start responding to tweets or comments, then more and more start coming in and it becomes an overwhelming, never-ending circle. It gets to a pint where I feel like I can’t stop answering because then I feel bad and I don’t want people to think that care less about them than the others so I keep on replying. It is only after I end up with itchy, blood-shot eyes for having my nose glued to my phone for three to four hours straight, that I finally give up and walk… Which is definitely not good for anyone’s mental or physical health. So I have to deliberately stop and distance myself.

As for my personality, I believe I stay somewhat the same person in my everyday life. I mean I have my off days, where I wish I had a bubble or force field shielding from the world, but I think I’m a decent human being on most days. Something that surely never change are my beliefs and principals. I try to see people through empathetic eyes and that is whether I am in porn-mode or not.

OBZ: Hatte Sie während eines Drehs schon mal Probleme mit dem Stehvermögen? (Have you ever had a problem with your libido while shooting a porn?)
DANE: At Cockyboys, I am lucky enough to chose and/or approve of who I will shoot with. Because of that I tend to be very much into my scene partners and am always very excited for my shoots. That is actually one of the reasons why I don’t shoot as often as most performers in this industry. I want to make sure that I stay excited about performing, but most of all that I stay excited about sex. Sex has always been an important part of my life and I want to make sure that it remains a source of pleasure and lustful ecstacy. I do not want it to ever feel like „work“.

OBZ: Haben Sie keine Angst vor sexuell übertragbaren Krankheiten? (Don’t you have any fear of contracting sexually transmitted diseases?)
DANE: That may have been a fear of mine at first, but porn actually pushed me to better educate myself about STIs (STDs). Before joining the industry I was already taking PrEP on a daily basis as I had a partner who was HIV positive. Although he was undetectable and therefore the risks of me contracting it were low to non-existent, we thought it would not hurt to put me under pre-exposure prophylaxis therapy. As a result I was tested every three months for all STIs as per protocol. Since joining the industry I am now getting tested before every shoots, which translates to about once or more per month. In the end, that is the best way to protect yourself and others, by being knowledgeable and getting tested regularly so that if any infections were to surface they can be diagnosed and treated quickly and effectively.

Furthermore, if I am being completely honest, I should thank the fact that I became a porn actor. Before joining the industry I probably had a lot more anonymous sex and frivolous encounters than I do now. Being an adult entertainer as made me a more responsible sexually active gay man and made me more aware of the importance of my sexual health in general.

OBZ: Haben Sie noch andere Träume und Ziele? (Does a porn actor like you have other dreams and goals?)
DANE: Another aspiration of mine is to become a commercial airline pilot. I am currently finishing up my instruments ratings and am hoping to complete my schooling by the end of the year.

OBZ: Ist es einfach Pornodarsteller zu werden? (Is it easy to become a porn actor?)
DANE: That is the question isn’t it? (OBZ: No!)

Technically speaking, nowadays anyone can have adult content of themselves online, so to a certain degree I would say that it is probably easier now than it ever was before. However, if your goal is to work for studios who strive and work hard to keep the industry at a certain level, then you are expected to work just as hard to uphold those standards. So… Yes and no, I guess?

OBZ: Denken Sie, dass Sie als Pornodarsteller auch andere Dinge tun sollten, als sich nur auf die Schauspielerei zu konzentrieren? Und warum? Sind Sie noch in anderen Bereichen tätig? Regie, Go-Go-Dancing, Produktion von Filmen. (Do you think that as an pornactor you should as well do other things, than to just concentrate yourself on acting? And why should you do that? Are you doing other things apart from pornacting? Direction, Go-Go-Dancing, Movies producing.)
DANE: The performers I know who make a living out of the adult entertainment industry are extremely hard working individuals. They do indeed work go-go gigs, hosting gigs, live shows, create personal content, some go behind the camera as well, etc. So if you want to fully dive and make this industry your full-time career then yes those other ventures are highly suggested. They are great ways to meet all sorts of interesting people and they allow for better exposure.

I unfortunately do not do much of adult work other than filming simply because I had, and still have, a career that I truly love prior to starting porn. It sure makes for an interesting double-life at time, but I enjoy it.

OBZ: Sie haben jetzt die Möglichkeit Ihren Fans, Ihren Freunden, Ihrer Familie und allen anderen etwas mitzuteilen (Danke…). Was möchten sie sagen? (Imagine you have the possiblity to thank all your friends, your family and the people who are important to you in your life, what would you tell them?)

DANE: I do love my friends and family very much and am so thankful to have them in my life. That being said, if I start going through an elaborate thank you speech for each and everyone of them, this interview will never end. So I will stick to the most important person in my life, whom I am lucky enough to call my husband; Alex Mecum.

I know, I know! Pretty cheesy, right? Nonetheless I truly mean it.

Now! Why? Well, here is the thing. I often joke that he has a „resting smiling face“, which is the polar opposite of a „resting bitch face“. Even my brother and sister find that he always has „la face en fleurs“, which translates more or less into „he always a face that’s in full bloom or blooming“. He really has the most comforting and welcoming aura about him, which emanates through his every expressions. Honestly, I have yet to meet someone who hasn’t fallen under his spellbinding smile and those calm, soothing blue eyes of his. Anyways, I digress, my point is that not only through his aura, but also by his actions and choices, Alex shows me on a daily basis what true compassion, empathy and kindness is. As I said earlier, these are traits of character that I value and I thought I possessed them myself, but that was until I met Alex. He truly embodies what it is to be kind towards others and to not judge a book by its cover. He will always rush to hold the door for the next person. Stranger or not, right behind or still a few meters away, he will hold that door for you and give you the most genuine and radiant of smiles, which will brighten your day in an instant. The way his actions are a constant reflection of just how genuinely beautiful he is inside is why I am thankful to have his energy around me. I strive to let my own inner beauty and values color my actions as well his does, so that maybe someday, I will too be painting the world with bright, yet gentle splashes of love and kindness the way he does so effortlessly.

Did this painfully long answer feel like I just wanted to add a whole paragraph about Alex? Mayyybe. But I think that people deserve to know just how wonderful he is and how much I love him.

OBZ: Was sind Ihre Pläne für die Zukunft? (What are your plans for the future?)
DANE: With Cockyboys I am excited to attend the Tel Aviv 2019 Gay Pride as part of the TLVfest: Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival to present the new feature cut of Jake Jaxson’s „All Saints“. It will be my first time in Israel, so I am thrilled to be a part of that trip in June. Beyond that I am looking forward to keep on filming some hot scenes with more sexy and amazing men.
